Rough Draft #1
School is important, everybody knows that. There are the students who like going to school and learning new things, and there are the students who think that school is just a giant waste of time. I confess myself of being in both groups at different points of my school career. In the beginning, starting at preschool, or elementary school, school is presented as a pretty nice place to be. Kids get to play, learn about things in the world, make new friends, go outside for recess, take naps, eat lunch and snacks, then go home to Mom and Dad, and tell them about the great day they have had. Sounds like a good deal, right? As the students rise through the grades, there's less of the playtime, and more emphasis is placed on learning. Nap time, snacks, are taken away, there's still recess, but that doesn't last much longer, and usually get's cut out around sixth grade. Of course, the kids still have their friends to talk to, and to eat with. Other than that, school has been reduced to sitting at a desk for eight hours a day, five days a week. One can see why there is a very obvious lack of enthusiasm in the classroom for both the students and teachers involved. School has become a place that students dread coming to. Of course, that is not to say all students don't enjoy going to school and learning, but there is a significant population of students who don't enjoy school in the slightest.

Reflection
When writing my rough draft, I found that it was a little hard to write about "Enthusiasm in the Classroom". I started out describing how school starts for most children, and how it winds up being around the time kids are in high school. I didn't get the chance to incorporate anything from one of the articles we've read in class. I'm planning on adding more information, with references to the texts we've read previously in class. I might just start all over with an entirely different approach.
